2nd World Conference on Women and Sport

The 2nd World Conference on Women and Sport was held in Windhoek, Namibia from 19 – 22 May 1998. The theme of the Conference was ”Reaching out for Change”. The Conference drew over 400 delegates from 74 different countries.
The legacy if this World Conference was the Windhoek Call for Action which has been published in English, French, Spanish and Japanese and is available for download.
The document ”Moving on from Windhoek”descripes how the Brighton Declaration and the Windhoek Call for Actionwere to be promoted and monitored moving forward from the Windhoek Conference.
The progress report ”From Brighton to Windhoek” available in English, French and Spanish, provides a record of positive action by international and national organisations around the world in support of the International Women and Sport Movement during the period May 1994 to May 1998. It highlites the significant progress that has been made to develop a sporting culture that enables and values the full involvement of women in every aspect of sport across a very diverse range of organisations and countries.
